The Kansas City Chiefs begin the final push to the NFL draft with new things to consider when addressing their draft plan.

John Dorsey and the Chiefs’ leadership demonstrated their core philosophy of ‘Best Player Available’ over the last few years. In recent drafts, it has actually worked out to be “best player available at a position of need or soon-to-be need”.

One of those positions of need is inside linebacker. Kansas City is met with several prospects in this year’s draft class at the position. As recently as this weekend the priority for an inside linebacker may be on the rise.

Another team in the AFC West may be significantly upgrading their running attack. It is been reported that Marshawn Lynch has worked out a deal to come out of retirement to play for the Oakland Raiders. The only catch is that the Seattle Seahawks on his rights. The two teams are rumored to be discussing a trade deal.

If the deal happens and Lynch plays for Oakland, the Raiders would represent the biggest AFC West running threat to the Chiefs defense. In that case, Kansas City would need to focus on the position in one of the first two days of the upcoming draft.
