The Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed success with Canadian players in the past, and now they’re looking at a late round tight end prospect, Antony Auclair.

The Kansas City Chiefs are at least somewhat familiar with Quebec already, having unearthed Laurent Duvernay-Tardif from McGill University in Montreal. Now they’re heading east a bit to Quebec City to check out another draft prospect in tight end Antony Auclair, who played football at Université Laval.

Auclair is considered to be a late round prospect or undrafted free agent target, but he’s drawing interest from several teams these days. He’s taken 10 personal visits to teams interested in seeing him up close, and the 6-5, 256 lb. prospect showed why at a recent pro day. Even days after injuring his hamstring, Auclair still ran a 4.82 40-yard dash and benched 225 pounds 22 times. The Chiefs were just one of numerous teams on hand at Laval.

"The NFL teams that attended Auclair’s pro day were the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers."

The Chiefs have a star at the position already in Travis Kelce, but Auclair will be a serious project, so it’s expected that he would be an inactive player or even a practice squad member should he be selected or make the team. The Chiefs also have young players like Demetrius Harris, Ross Travis and James O’Shaughnessy on the roster in addition to the newly signed Gavin Escobar. It should be noted that Harris is facing charges for a recent arrest for felony possession of marijuana.
