Bucky Brooks has created a perfect pair for each NFL team in the upcoming draft, and the Chiefs are getting a well-known quarterback in the process.

Bucky Brooks has a new NFL mock draft out under the banner of “perfect pairs,” the idea being which two first picks of the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft would be the ideal pair for each drafting team. For the Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL.com analyst has a well-known quarterback to serve as the franchise’s future: Deshaun Watson.

Brooks has the Chiefs landing their long-term quarterback prospect, and first quarterback selection in the first round since 1983 (Todd Blackledge), with Watson at No. 27 overall in this mock scenario. Brooks writes:

"Andy Reid’s track record shows he’s had tremendous success with athletic quarterbacks. I think Watson’s game is similar to the Chiefs’ Alex Smith. This would be a perfect fit for the Clemson QB. He could sit for a while and watch Smith, a guy who’s a winner."

Watson is a common player mocked to Kansas City in recent weeks as the team has made no secret about their interest in this year’s quarterback class. At the very least, they’re doing all the requisite homework it would take to consider anyone and everyone at the position. Even more, Watson’s arm strength is concern enough that he might fall despite his clutch performances, leadership and strong intangibles.
