The latest free agent visit to Arrowhead Stadium comes via Dallas with former Cowboys tight end Gavin Escobar.

Gavin Escobar is the latest free agent visit to Arrowhead Stadium on Friday, as Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey is apparently open to adding a veteran tight end to the roster.

Escobar was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2013, but never became the sort of pass catcher that most NFL analysts envisioned when he was taken in the middle of the second round—within the first 50 selections. On draft day, Mike Mayock said, “”Maybe the best ball skills of any of them. This kid’s got great ball skills. He’s a gifted hands catcher. He will be a great short and intermediate catcher for the Dallas Cowboys.”

Escobar never caught more than 9 passes in a single season for the Cowboys, even though he has strong red zone numbers with 8 touchdowns among his 30 career receptions. Injuries have not been the issue as Escobar has been healthy enough to play in every game in his NFL career except missing two games in 2015.

Unfortunately for everyone else, the Cowboys remain committed to Jason Witten at tight end and rarely allow for other tight ends to enter the offensive picture. Last year, even Geoff Swain, a 7th round pick in 2015, passed Escobar on the stat sheet and he was rarely used himself.
