His own future

At some point, the futures of John Dorsey and Andy Reid will have to be addressed by Clark Hunt, the team’s owner. Why both men are even conducting business so close to the end of their initial deals is puzzling? The Washington Redskins even rewarded Jay Gruden in recent days with a new two-year extension because he was coming up on his final year, and Washington hasn’t come close to the level of success enjoyed by Kansas City since Dorsey and Reid arrived.

Does Dorsey really have any interest in leaving? Is Green Bay patiently waiting for a homecoming so he can replace Ted Thompson? Is there an understanding between all parties involved that deals will be done down the line?

Fans of the Chiefs shouldn’t take for granted just how brilliant everyone has been in their posts. Dorsey’s drafting record is second to none in the last four years, and he’s built a Super Bowl ready roster. The playoffs are now the expectation, a sign that everyone has evolved to understand how good Dorsey is at his job, even if it remains unsaid. Clark Hunt should be doing everything in his power to keep both men in place, unless, that is, he’s already been told that Dorsey’s eventually going to head back home.
