Is Adrian Peterson really joining the AFC West in the near future or is his agent just trying to drum up interest as the free agent market opens?

Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles are two veteran running backs who have enjoyed incredible careers now available near the twilight of their playing experience. It’s hard to tell what either back has left. For Charles, he faces an uphill climb coming back from injury and it should be expected that teams will wait months before checking in on his progress and readiness to hit the field. What is Adrian Peterson’s excuse?

At this point, it’s hard to tell whether NFL teams are really interested in AP or not. While his future as a Hall of Fame running back is not in question, the interest from current NFL teams certainly is. It seems that Peterson’s representatives have to be responsible for any rumors that teams are actually interested in Peterson at this point in the offseason.

Earlier this offseason, Vegas odds favored the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants as his future destination. So far there’s little evidence to suggest any of those teams are in on Peterson. Then his “preferred landing spots” of the Raiders and Seahawks have been addressed in the above tweets. Either way, there’s little waves at this point for the veteran.

However that doesn’t mean Peterson is done. It just means teams only have so much attention to pay at this point and several other free agents are also garnering interest. Peterson will wait, and maybe even until after the NFL Draft, for his turn in the spotlight.
