NFL free agency: Brandon Carr open to re-sign with Cowboys
By Matt Conner
Brandon Carr is once again ready to hit NFL free agency, and the Texas native hopes to re-sign with the Dallas Cowboys, if the price is right.
Former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Brandon Carr will hit free agency for the second time in his NFL career this offseason. He’s likely enjoyed the biggest payday already but that won’t stop teams from making even richer than he already is.
Carr says he wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys, his most recent team, if possible, but it has to make business sense before it gets into an emotional play. If a team wants Carr bad enough, he would certainly take the money but he is hoping to return to play for Jerry Jones’ franchise.
"“I love defending the star,” Carr said to the Dallas Morning News recently. “I love representing everything that comes with the Dallas Cowboys organization, so that’s first and foremost. But also, you have to play the game. There’s a business side to it as well, and I’m prepared to do both.”"
Carr came into the league as a fifth round pick in 2008 with the Chiefs in the same draft that brought Brandon Flowers to Kansas City as well. The Brandons anchored the Chiefs secondary for years before both left in free agency for much bigger money, Flowers to the San Diego Chargers and Carr to the Cowboys.
Carr has started every single game at corner for the Cowboys since signing with them before the 2012 season and remains talented and healthy enough to continue for the near future in that role. Carr is a true ironman in the NFL, having never missed a start in his career of nine seasons, a streak of 144 games. Last season, Carr had 1 interception and 9 passes defended to go with his 60 total tackles.
