#5: Charles puts the Chiefs on his back in New Orleans with an 91 yard run

The 2012 Kansas City Chiefs were badly managed and poorly quarterbacked. That doesn’t take away from the season that Charles had coming off of his first ACL injury. In week three, the Chiefs were down 24-6 in New Orleans staring an 0-3 start in the face. That’s when Charles took over. On their own nine yard line, the Chiefs called an off tackle run to the left. Charles took the ball and after a few shifts turned on the jets to the end zone. The play would provide a huge boost to the Chiefs who went on to win the game in overtime.

Charles finished with 233 yards rushing on 33 attempts. He tacked on six receptions for 55 yards and could not be contained by the Saints’ defense. Charles finished the 2012 season with his highest ever rushing total at 1,509 yards. That is a prime example of playing with heart despite the circumstances of your team.
