A new mock draft is out from Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, and he has a new name for the Chiefs at No. 27 overall with pass rushing linebacker/defensive end Tim Williams.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a new name attached to them in a recent mock draft from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein, moving away from quarterback or cornerback for a new edge rusher. Tim Williams is a defensive end/outside linebacker from Alabama who the Chiefs could grab to help bolster the pass rush at No. 27 overall. Zierlein writes:

"Alabama would cut Williams loose and let him get up the field rather than worrying about dropping in coverage. I see him in a similar role here. He can be a third-down specialist who can add some life to the Chiefs’ rush."

Williams is a two-year starter for the Crimson Tide who had 18.5 sacks in the last two seasons. Last year he had 31 total tackles, including 16.5 for a loss, along with 2 forced fumbles and 2 passes defended.

Williams’s NFL comparisons are strong, whether looking at NFL.com, who says he’s like Leonard Floyd, or CBS who says Williams is reminiscent of Bruce Irvin. Both players give good projections of the Chiefs adding another solid pass rushing body to a group who could use some stability.
