Clark Hunt wants to extend Andy Reid, John Dorsey
Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt didn’t mince words on Friday afternoon, saying he would like to keep both Andy Reid and John Dorsey around for a while.
It’s been a long time since the Chiefs were this good. You would have to go back to the Marty Achottenheimer era to find a time when Kansas City made the playoffs in three of four seasons. You would have to go back to neverland to find when the Chiefs reached the Divisional round in consecutive years.
Speaking to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star, Hunt pointed out that he hopes to extend both Dorsey and Reid in the near future. Both contracts run out after the 2017 season and while Reid seems a sure thing to stay around, there have been rumors that Dorsey could bolt for the Green Bay Packers, where he played and worked in the front office for more than two decades, if the timing is right.
Hunt would be wise to keep them around, no matter the size of the check. The Chiefs haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1969 and might have their best roster since those days. That is a credit to both Dorsey and his staff for finding the players, and to Reid and his staff for developing them so well.
