Goodbye AFC West lead

Kansas City came out flat on defense against the Buccaneers and never could get anything going. When you don’t force a punt until the second half and only force 2 punts all game it is hard to win. Kansas City had it’s chances on Sunday and kept coming up short. The team is still in charge of its destiny heading through a brutal second half of the season. With games at Denver and at Atlanta KC can do a lot to right the ship in the coming weeks. If KC can find a way to get through the rest of the season with an above .500 record in the remaining 6 games they have a good shot at the playoffs.

The KC offense was not good on Sunday. Alex Smith still is struggling to make plays consistently enough to move Kansas City down the field. There is enough talent on the offense that they should not be this ineffective. Reid’s play calling has been extremely suspect throughout these past couple of games on the offensive side. The team drives the ball down the field on their first possession only to run a TE jet sweep inside the 5? After moving the ball down the field in the air they run the ball three straight downs on their next possession to punt.

What’s next for Chiefs?

Kansas City has to get their offensive woes behind them and soon. They head to Denver in primetime this coming week and they have to show they are ready for the challenge or they will just fade into the background.
