Chiefs have up and down injury situation

It appears the Chiefs got a piece of good news on Monday when coach Andy Reid confirmed that Marcus Peters passed the concussion protocol. Peters had a rough Sunday with the hit that put him into the protocol as well as an in-game trip to the locker room for IV fluids. His availability versus the Drew Brees led Saints will be critical.

On the other hand, there are two particular players to worry about. Phillip Gaines and Allen Bailey both left the game in Oakland. Gaines re-aggravated his knee injury and has some inflammation. While he may not be back soon, there is no indication the injury is long-term yet. Allen Bailey, on other hand, is rumored to be seriously hurt and may miss significant time if not the season.

Jack Del Rio cannot decide what he thinks about Alex Smith

Del Rio was asked about Alex Smith in his post-game press conference. Apparently, he couldn’t make up his mind. His reply was both seemingly respectful and utterly dismissive at the same time. Del Rio called Smith “Underrated” and said of the quarterback that” if he’s got to rely on throwing the ball, its really not his strong suit”. He may have to change his tune after watching the game film.
