Locked on Chiefs – Steel City Meltdown Rants & Takeaways

Kansas City couldn’t get going on offense or stop anything on defense.

They looked overwhelmed from the start after Spencer Ware’s fumble cost them early. The next drive, Smith drops back for a screen pass and throws a pick to a Pittsburgh defender. Kansas City did have a couple of bright spots that were dispersed in many horrible moments throughout the game.

Brights spots few and far Between

Tyreek Hill keeps showing up when given opportunities for the Chiefs. Hill scored a TD on a play that DAT would have been down short of the goal line on. Hill caught the ball and shrugged off he tackler to make it into the end zone. He used his speed on punt and kickoff returns well Sunday night as well. He broke a punt return for a TD only to have it called back on another block in the back penalty.

One player that continues to show he is a good player for KC is Cairo Santos. While he missed his only attempt Sunday night from 49 yards out, the snap was high and off target and threw the whole play off it’s timing. Santos did a very impressive job even making it close as he hit the upright in the pouring rain.

A welcome positive that is being overlooked Sunday night is the re-emergence of Jeremy Maclin. While he didn’t break 100 yards or score a TD, it was easy to see he was dialed into the game early on. It’s very important to see him continue to show why he was worth the $ 55 million the Chiefs are paying him.
