For the second straight week, Peters pickpocketed the opposing quarterback twice. In Sunday’s 24-3 victory over the New York Jets, Ryan Fitzpatrick was intercepted six times. It’s entirely possible that he was simply having the worst professional day of his long career. Perhaps defensive coordinator Bob Sutton did some of the best film preparation of his Chiefs tenure (less likely)? I happen to think Peters’ ball-hawking is just infectious and seeing him capitalize on a quarterback’s mistakes could prove to be a galvanizing force for this group.

Taking the ball away may be Kansas City’s saving grace until their best defensive player has returned to regular duty. The more offensive opportunities for head coach Andy Reid and company, the more chances they’ll have to be prolific this season. They’ll rarely have days at the office like the one they had on Sunday at Arrowhead, but it’s entirely possible that fewer wayward passes will hit the ground with Peters there to inspire takeaways.

Can the Kansas City Chiefs continue to win the turnover battle with viable AFC opponents? Could a ball-hawking secondary be the key to winning tough road games at Pittsburgh and Oakland? Can Peters maintain this historic pace and earn the respect of quarterbacks across the league?
