Eric Berry returned to practice and talked with the media yesterday. His first day back to the field he even saw a couple of first team reps. Berry continued to show why he is one of the best players in the NFL by putting the business part of the NFL behind him and being ready to go when he stepped on the practice field. He could be a great help to the young secondary players, especially Eric Murray. The defense has their voice and their leader back. If he can pick up where he left off he should be able to help the Chiefs run defense as well.
Justin Houston was seen rehabbing outside today for the first time. Houston being anywhere close to ready to go would be a huge boost to the Chiefs. That is especially true if he could play in the third or fourth game of the year. Houston brings pass rush ability and the ability to seal the edge that just no one else on the roster can come close to providing. Sliding Ford back into a role where he could rotate with Hali would help keep Tamba healthy. Hopefully it would keep Ford motivated enough to have a breakout season.
The inside linebackers were a factor in preseason week three. Justin March cleaned up his assignments and was able to make plays in the final tune up for the regular season.
