Projected Starters

The Chiefs should be able to start the season with Eric Berry and Ron Parker on the back end but for camp, these are my predicted starters for the preseason games in August.

Strong Safety- Ron Parker

Parker had another underrated 2015 for the Chiefs defense as he continues to show why the Chiefs picked him up off of waivers for the 2013 season. Not many safeties can say that they racked up five sacks and three interceptions in any season but Parker seemed to fly under the radar of the NFL which lead to teams underestimating him.

With Berry sitting out of camp, Parker will have to step into the role of the emotional leader as well as the statistical leader of this position group. There will be plenty of teaching opportunities for him throughout camp and fans can look forward to another year of Parker owning the middle of the field.

Free Safety- Eric Murray

The Chiefs will most likely have a different starter in each game of the preseason most likely including Jamell Fleming and Daniel Sorensen because of their experience. But for the all important third preseason game I will give the nod to Murray who will probably transplanted from cornerback to roam the deep.

The fourth round pick won’t be that guy that can lock down a bigger tight end but he has more speed and better hands than the other safeties at the position and should lead the other backups when the season starts in September.

Next: And the reserves...
