To the shock of absolutely nobody, Kansas City Chiefs corner Marcus Peters made the NFL Top 100.
Marcus Peters is a special talent. He’s the kind of player that everybody dreams about drafting, and Kansas City fans are lucky enough to have their clutches on him.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that Peters was voted by his peers as the 65th-best player in the National Football League, per the Top 100 NFL Players of 2016 on NFL Network. You can watch the video at NFL.com.
Peters was a wunderkind in his rookie season, thefting a league-high eight passes before picking off Brian Hoyer in the AFC Wild Card Game. Peters was good in the first half of the season but arguably the best corner in football over the last half, becoming a shutdown option.
I remember watching him throughout the first week of training camp, and it was impressive. Between his ball skills, size and hip movement, it was evident the Chiefs made the right decision. Peters would prove to be more than that, earning Pro Bowl honors and Defensive Rookie of the Year.
With Sean Smith gone, the Chiefs are going to be relying on Peters even more in his second year. Something tells me the youngster out of Oakland wouldn’t have it any other way.
