1. Len Dawson
Only one quarterback has ever won a championship with the Chiefs/Texans, and it’s Len Dawson. Dawson was actually in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers before reuniting with Hank Stram in 1962 following their time together at Purdue.
Dawson is in the Hall of Fame mostly because of his exploits in big moments. Dawson won a trio of AFL championships and engineered one of the greatest upsets of all-time, beating the heavily-favored Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV, 23-7. Dawson reached the Pro Bowl on seven occasions and was named a First-Team All-Pro twice.
In 14 seasons with Dallas/Kansas City, Dawson threw for 28,507 yards with 239 touchdowns and 183 interceptions. He completed 57.1 percent of his career passes, a high number in an age when most quarterbacks settled around or below 50 percent. Dawson also led the AFL in yards per pass attempt five times, no small feat in a league that threw at will.
