What has changed: The Chargers tried to upgrade the offensive weapons for Philip Rivers, and did so by inking wide receiver Travis Benjamin to a three-year deal. Benjamin comes over from the Cleveland Browns and should be a nice addition, giving Rivers a quality second option with Keenan Allen still getting a majority of the targets.

The offensive line and running game still leave plenty to be desired. San Diego drafted Melvin Gordon in the first round last year and he failed to produce a single touchdown. The line is also a major question mark from the center to the right tackle, with a mediocre combination at best.

Should they scare you?: San Diego is always a dangerous team when Rivers is at the controls. While the former No. 1 overall pick is aging, he can still sling the pigskin with the best of them. Rivers has some quality players to throw to in Allen, Benjamin and Antonio Gates, who stayed in San Diego on a two-year contract.

That said, this is a team that looks to be the runt of the AFC West. San Diego will struggle mightily to handle Kansas City’s edge rushers in Tamba Hali, Justin Houston and Dee Ford.

Prediction: 27-20, Chiefs
