Chiefs Get: 3rd Round Pick (#73 Overall) and 7th Round Pick (#186 Overall)

Why?: The Chiefs need to get back into the meat of this draft, and right now Knile Davis is dead weight on this roster.  Moving a fifth-round pick isn’t a huge deal, and is the kind of thing that can convince the Dolphins to deal in picks for this year rather than a 2017 conditional pick.  The seventh-round pick is just a sweetener to close the door so the Chiefs don’t keep talking to other teams.

Dolphins Get: Knile Davis and 5th Round Pick (#162 Overall)

Why?: The Dolphins weren’t very good running the ball last year and lost their feature man, Lamar Miller.  They’ve partially replaced him with former Bronco, CJ Anderson.

However, they have made it clear they are still looking for help, adding both Daniel Thomas and Isaiah Pead this week.  Knile Davis is a better option than those two put together, and will be cheaper.  That doesn’t even include his ability as a return man.  Too balance the deal, the Dolphins will also get a fifth-round pick to help build their depth chart.

Chiefs Get: 3rd Round Pick (#90 Overall)

Why?: There is a lot of talent to like in the middle rounds of this draft, and the Chiefs should be taking advantage.  Giving up the third in 2017 will be tough for some folks to swallow, but they should be hitting quite a payload when it comes to compensatory picks next year, so that’s a mitigated loss.

Losing the second of our 5th round picks might mess with some folks’ mock drafts, but it’s not a big deal in reality.  Especially when it results in the team having four picks in the top 100 of this draft.

Seahawks Get: 5th Round Pick (#165 Overall) and 2017 3rd Round Pick

Why?: The Seahawks are always looking to stockpile picks for the future, and this is a good opportunity for them to do that since they own a compensatory pick just seven spots later.  They also get a 5th round pick back to recoup the one they traded to Kansas City for Kelcie McCray last year.

I invite everyone to offer up their opinions own mocks in the comments section.  Mock drafts are meant for interaction and discussion.  There are still plenty of players I need to study up on, so I’m sure I have missed more than a few that other people are interested in.
