Last week I wrote about why I don’t believe the Chiefs will be selecting a cornerback in the first round of this year’s draft. Now obviously, I have no say (yet) in the Chiefs’ draft decisions so they very well may end up going corner or any other position for that matter. So, in this article I’ll be identifying logical targets that the Chiefs will most likely be considering at pick No. 28.
These players that I will mention are commonly being projected to be picked around the Chiefs’ range, so while it would be awesome for Chiefs to get a guy like Jalen Ramsey, DeForest Buckner, or Joey Bosa, the likelihood of that happening is slim to none. Also, not only will these players likely be available around No. 28, they’ll play logical positions that I believe Chiefs will be targeting.
Really, outside of QB, RB, TE, OT, C, and ILB, I could see the Chiefs going in any direction in the first round. The main theme between these players is that they’ll be able to contribute immediately whether it be as a starter, depth/rotational player, or special teamer. Let’s take a look at these players.
