Chiefs film: William Jackson could be the pick
The Kansas City Chiefs are going to be making a huge decision on April 28. General manager John Dorsey and his staff will be huddled in Arrowhead Stadium’s War Room, hoping to find the next great player for the franchise in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Of course, many believe that pick will eventually be a cornerback. The Chiefs truck gold last year in the first round at that position, nabbing Marcus Peters with the 18th-overall selection. Peters went onto a Pro Bowl season, tying for the league lead with eight interceptions. However, Peters needs a new running mate with Sean Smith gone and Phillip Gaines coming off a torn ACL.
In that vein, we have to go to the film. Unlike NFL games, we don’t have the opportunity to plow through All-22 film, so I’ll be embedding some YouTube videos to let you watch what I’m seeing. I also apologize to Tarek Mavani for stealing his film room. I promise to give it back after this.
I’ve been pouring over as much film as I can find of the projected first-round corners other than Vernon Hargreaves and Jalen Ramsey, who will both be off the board well before the Chiefs are on the clock. To this point, I’ve taken a hard look at William Jackson, Eli Apple and Mackensie Alexander.
This week, we take a look at Jackson. The youngster is having his pro day at the University of Houston today, and Kansas City reportedly has a large group there including Chris Ballard, who was on hand last year to scout Peters.
