The Kansas City Chiefs might just be set to win the AFC West in 2016. Could be the tides turning for the Chiefs?

The Kansas City Chiefs during the off-season have had many questions. With the amount of players possibly leaving the Chiefs would they still be able to be competitive in the AFC West in 2016?

Well unless you have been living under a rock for the past week, you would know it is free agency in the NFL. Over the next few weeks teams will scramble to snatch up players on the free-agent market to better their chances to be as good, if not better, in 2016.

One interesting team to watch, besides Kansas City, has been the four-time AFC West-champion Denver Broncos.

The Broncos had just as many questions about their coming offseason as the Chiefs. Would Peyton Manning, arguably the best quarterback of all time, finally hang up his cleats? Would they be able to sign Von Miller long-term? If Peyton leaves who takes his place? Well some of the very questions have been answered. Peyton retired, Miller was hit with the franchise tag, and future quarterback of the Broncos Brock Osweiler…left for the surging Houston Texans.

This has left some gaps in the armor that is the Broncos. The sad reality for them is that they will not be near the team of the last few years. Not only is their leader gone in Manning, but Osweiler is gone as well, leaving the most important position in the NFL a giant question mark for Denver.

With all the said, this should leave both the Chiefs, and Oakland Raiders, watering at the mouth. The once and mighty kings of the AFC West could be set for a downward slide in the next year.

While there is much still in the air when it comes to the Chiefs in terms of signing players and the direction of the draft, they are seemingly in the best place to take back the West. Look at the facts. For Denver, who struggled mightily on offense, with a solid defense, will more than likely not be the offensive power they have been. Even their defense, which lost one of their playmakers on defense in Malik Jackson, will look slightly different next year. Who knows what else will happen between now and the beginning of the year for them.

Next: Chiefs to roll?
