Malcolm Mitchell – WR, Georgia – 6’0″, 198 lbs

If I had to describe Malcolm Mitchell’s game in two words, they would be smooth and tough. These two traits are sorely lacking in the Chiefs’ receiving corps outside of Jeremy Maclin, and Mitchell’s a guy who can provide them. He’s not the type of receiver who can run right by a corner but he can win with his route-running and ability to make tough catches over the middle.

Mitchell would be a great fit as a slot receiver, similar to the role Jason Avant played. While he isn’t the combine warrior of his former teammate Chris Conley, Mitchell did test well compared to other receivers in the 40-yard dash (4.45, 5th) and broad jump (10’9″, 4th).

So while Mitchell’s game is centered around his route-running and good hands, his athleticism isn’t necessarily a weakness. All in all, considering his average explosiveness and other corners like durability and age (24-year-old rookie), Mitchell will likely fall pretty deep in the draft.

That being said, I could very well see the Chiefs taking the chance on him between the fourth and sixth rounds.
