On Wednesday at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Kansas City Chiefs reporter and resident good guy B.J. Kissel spoke with NFL media insider Ian Rapoport about the potential free agency of strong safety Eric Berry. Rapoport gave a very definitive answer.

Obviously, this is reassuring news. There had been recent talk that the Chiefs and Berry’s representatives had stalled in talks. It always seemed like Kansas City would keep Berry regardless of whether we were taking a long-term deal or a franchise tag, followed by a deal.

Berry was a First-Team All-Pro last season and a Pro Bowler, this all after coming back from cancer. Berry’s will and determination are legendary, and he is arguably the most respected player in the league, and certainly the Chiefs’ locker room.

At only 27 years old, Berry is on a path that could lead him to the steps of the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day. He has already been on three Pro-Bowl teams and gone to four Pro Bowls.

You know what really helps get you in the Hall of Fame? Winning the Super Bowl. For once, Kansas City gives players a great chance for glory.
