Four Chiefs to consider during free agency
By Brandon Fry
We are currently a little more than three weeks away from the official start of NFL free agency but many have begun speculating on how their teams may attack the market. The Kansas City Chiefs could have several holes to fill depending on how they handle the players on the team that are currently set to be free agents on March 9th.

When you place a funnel on this list narrowing down the most talented players you’re left with a much shorter list but tough decisions none the less. Who on this list do the Chiefs have to keep? Your guess is as good as mine on which big name free agents stay, go or gets franchise tagged.
What I will explore with you today however is which lower tier/less expensive free agents present are must sign free agents for the Chiefs.
- Charcandrick West
It will be very interesting to see what contract the young running back gets as a restricted free agent. The Chiefs may have struck good fortune by his less than stellar performance in the playoffs as we know he’s a much more capable back than what was shown. Is he going to be a star in the league? Probably not but he’d be a great signing for Kansas City if the price is right as he already knows the playbook and should only get better.
With Jamaal Charles getting older and recovering from another ACL surgery, the Chiefs have to be thinking about the future at the running back position. It wouldn’t be a terrible decision to maybe stick with a running back by committee approach moving forward with two serviceable running backs like West and Spencer Ware after Charles hangs up his cleats.
