John Dorsey talks about Eric Berry, DAT and more

On Thursday, general manager John Dorsey had a press conference with the local reporters in Kansas City. Dorsey touched on a litany of subjects, so I’ll embed some tweets from those there and then add commentary.

This can only be a good thing. It would be insane to think that the Chiefs would not want to bring back Eric Berry. The price tag will be large – approximately $10 million per year for four of five years – but he’s a First-Team All-Pro. Those are the types of players you pay.

Again, all good. Jamaal Charles is one of the best players in franchise history. The Chiefs won 11 games without Charles and if he can come back and play like he has throughout his career, that is worth a win or two more. Charles has been steadfast in wanting to make a comeback.

This whole situation is very strange, but De’Anthony Thomas coming back would be huge for the special teams. No disrespect to Frankie Hammond Jr., but he’s not all that explosive. Thomas is one of the best punt returners in the league and can be useful on offense.

Next: Which free agent is most important for KC?

Ultimately, we learned the Chiefs are talking with Berry’s representatives, Charles is healing well and won’t be going anywhere, and Thomas is expected back this spring. Can’t complain.
