The Kansas City Chiefs finally won a playoff game Saturday but the victory was somewhat overshadowed by the fact that star WR, Jeremy Maclin, went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury.
After limping off the field, Maclin was seen in tears on the sideline. The visibly frustrated receiver was then carted to the locker room and did not return to the game.
Given Maclin’s reaction, the going theory is that the WR tore his ACL. If that is the case, then Maclin’s season is done.
So what is the latest on Maclin?
We know from reports out of the locker room that the receiver was seen limping and without a brace. When asked if he would be able to play next week, Maclin said “I hope so.”
According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Maclin will have an MRI on his knee on Sunday.
#KCChiefs WR Jeremy Maclin will have an MRI in the morning. It's clear there is real concern. But unlike some ACL tears, it's not 100% yet.

#KCChiefs WR Jeremy Maclin suffered an injury to his ACL, source said, but it's not definitive that it's torn. A small glimmer of hope.

There is a possibility that Maclin suffered an ACL sprain. A grade 1 sprain might mean that Maclin would not require surgery. Regardless, even if the ACL injury is the most mild type, it is hard to see Maclin playing next Saturday. His knee would likely require rest to avoid further damage. Still, should the Chiefs continue to win, if Maclin were able to stay on the active roster, it would be a huge victory for KC.
For now, all we can do is hope.
