The Kansas City Chiefs are going to be well-represented at the Pro Bowl. Five men were selected to the game, including outside linebackers Justin Houston and Tamba Hali, tight end Travis Kelce, safety Eric Berry and cornerback Marcus Peters.
It is hard to complain when you are getting that level of respect, but there are two notable absences from the list. How did Derrick Johnson, who is Pro Football Focus’ second-ranked inside linebacker and a man with a team-leading 100 tackles, not make the Pro Bowl? Johnson is an All-Pro and is having an incredible year after tearing his Achilles in Week 1 of 2014.
Then there is Sean Smith, who has been terrific for the second straight year. Smith only has 37 tackles and two interceptions, but he has arguably been even better than Peters. Peters does have seven interceptions and has been tremendous, but he also sees a ton of targets because of Smith’s dominance.
Are there any others who really got snubbed? One could make the argument for a special teams player, whether it be Cairo Santos or Dustin Colquitt. Then there is Jeremy Maclin, who has 985 yards on 79 catches, along with six touchdowns. Maclin is enjoying a great year for Kansas City, but there are plenty of wide receivers with crazy stats.
What say you, Addicts? Who should have made the Pro Bowl that will be sitting home?
