AFC Wildcard Previews

I predicted a loss for the Broncos and a win for the Chiefs. After week 15, if everything goes as predicted, the Chiefs will be one game out of the AFC West lead. While it would be nice for a home playoff game and the first division title since 2010, the best chance for a playoff win will come with the fifth seed and traveling to the AFC South winner. Trust me Chiefs fans, we want to be talking about the wildcard race until the very end of the season.

As for the race the only wildcard contender we have yet to address is New York. The Jets travel to Dallas to face the Cassel-led Cowboys on Saturday night. Ryan Fitzpatrick to Brandon Marshall will be a common call from the commentators if the Jets reach the red zone. The Chiefs have never been able to count on Matt Cassel to win a game that they need. Don’t count on him here to beat New York. The Jets’ defense is playing very well and Cassel cannot get the ball to his play-makers. Look for a lot of underneath passes to Jason Witten in a low scoring game. Jets 20, Cowboys 10

AFC Wildcard Predicted Standings

Kansas City (9-5)

Pittsburgh (9-5)

New York Jets (8-6)

Buffalo (7-7)

Indianapolis (6-8)

Oakland (6-8)

I will end with these awesome words from an awesome movie. Consider them words of wisdom to Chiefs and fans who hope for a division title.

“Bye bye boys!”

“Have fun storming the castle!”

“You think it’ll work?”

“It’d take a miracle. Bye bye!”
