97. Dexter McCluster sets punt return record vs. Chargers (2010)

Anybody who watched this game will never forget it. The Kansas City Chiefs were trying to become a respectable franchise again while the San Diego Chargers were the gold standard in the AFC West. Kansas City had not made the postseason since 2006 when it sneaked in with a win during Week 17. From that point on, the team knew nothing but misery, including a brutal six-win stretch over the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

In 2010’s season opener, the Chiefs hosted the Chargers on Monday Night Football. The game would be played in massive rain throughout the night, with the main highlight coming when Dexter McCluster set sail on a 94-yard punt return, the longest in franchise history. McCluster was playing in his first career game, and helped Kansas City to a shocking 21-14 upset win over San Diego.

The Chiefs would go onto win their first division since 2003.
