98. Kansas City crushes San Francisco at Arrowhead (1997)

The Kansas City Chiefs were a very good team in 1997, going 13-3 and winning their third AFC West crown in five seasons. Still some did not believe the Chiefs were all that solid. On the final day of November, the Chiefs played host to the San Francisco 49ers at Arrowhead Stadium but were actually 4.5-point underdogs, despite a 9-3 record and being winners of five of their previous six.

Kansas City absolutely stunned the country on the national stage that Sunday afternoon, trouncing Steve Young and the 49ers, 44-9. San Francisco would also go onto a 13-3 mark, but took a savage beating at the hands of the Chiefs. Kansas City controlled the ball for more than 35 minutes and Rich Gannon threw for three touchdowns, all while the defense racked up nine points and five sacks, including one by Derrick Thomas. Kansas City would not lose another game in the regular season.
