There was a lot to like in last week’s win over the Buffalo Bills. For starters, the Kansas City Chiefs are suddenly in the driver’s seat for the fifth seed in the playoffs.

This team was 1-5 and was given a death sentence when they lost Jamaal Charles and Phillip Gaines for season. Yet despite these obstacles the Chiefs have willed their way to five straight victories through a combination of playing great football and the coaching staff scheming at a high level.

It’s these traits that usually end up separating the good teams from the great teams and right now (for these last five weeks anyway) the Chiefs have been a great team. Last week against Buffalo, Kansas City displayed how good teams can find a way to win difficult games. This isn’t something we’ve seen from recent Chiefs teams. They’ve been frustratingly inconsistent, winning games they have no business winning and losing games they have no business losing. That said, there’s something different in the air in Kansas City.
