Greetings citizens of Chiefs Kingdom and happy hump day to you all. I hope your week is going as great as mine (Go Royals!).

If any of you had any question to the Kansas City Chiefs being the worst team in the NFL, your question was answered last Sunday in London where Kansas City throttled the Lions 45-10.

This was the second straight week that Kansas City was able to do more good things than bad which resulted in a win. Now two consecutive weeks  that Alex Smith has made a positive impact on the game with a few impactful throws as well as show casing his wheels tapping into his inner Michael Vick with a few 20-plus yard runs. This is two weeks in a row that the offensive line has allowed minimal damage in terms of allowing the quarterback to take hits and sacks which in return made Smith feel more comfortable resulting in better production. Charcandrick West has had two consecutive weeks of rushing effectively just coming up three yards shy of back to back 100 yard games. West has totaled 207 yards and two touchdowns in these last two weeks as starting running back.

The same case could be made for the defense which has had back to back weeks of improvement and success against opponents. Starting with four consecutive weeks now of allowing opponents to score only one touchdown per game and limiting the rest of the scoring to field goals. This is three weeks in a row now that the defense has forced multiple turnovers in a game which has totaled to seven in these past three games.

This two game win streak is unique, it could have a tremendous impact on the team’s success moving forward or just end up being completely meaningless.

Now to be clear, we are just talking about two games in a row that the Chiefs have won, not four or five or seven but every streak starts with two. As bad as this team has been we need to celebrate what little success this team may have this year. I still have my doubts that Kansas City can turn it around this year but there are a few elements that are in the Chiefs favor to prove me wrong.

Reason To Be Optimistic #1

For one, Kansas City’s schedule lightens up quite a bit after this next match-up with the Broncos. Here are following list of opponents.

  1. @ San Diego (2-6)
  2. Buffalo (3-4)
  3. @Oakland (4-3)
  4. San Diego (2-6)
  5. @Baltimore (2-6)
  6. Cleveland (2-6)
  7. Oakland (4-3)

The combined schedule of all these opponents at this very moment is 13-25. So it really comes down to what kind of person you are, are you a glass half glass full guy that looks at this and says “So you’re saying there’s chance..” or are you the person that’s been around this block a few times too many and know better than to get your hopes up?
