Report: Chiefs fear torn ACL for Jamaal Charles

UPDATE: Andy Reid has confirmed that the Chiefs believe Charles has a torn ACL. MRI will confirm.

According to Ian Rappoport of NFL.com, the Kansas City Chiefs fear that star RB Jamaal Charles may have suffered a torn ACL Sunday in the third quarter vs. the Chicago Bears.

If the team’s fear is correct, Charles will be done for the season.

Charles suffered the injury while attempting to make a cut in the red zone. As Charles’ leg planted, his knee appeared to give way. The RB threw the leg out awkwardly and crumpled to the ground. Charles stayed on the ground, grasping his right knee. Two trainers assisted him in limping off the field.

Chiefs fans, including all of us here at AA, immediately began praying that Charles only suffered a sprain. However, Rapporport soon threw cold water on that.

This is not the same knee Charles injured a few years ago. Still, it looks pretty bad. You can see the play below.

Losing Charles would be a devastating blow to the Chiefs. KC has capable backups in Knile Davis and Charcandrick West, still, Charles is the centerpiece of the KC offense. Without him on the field, the Chiefs’ offensive struggles could increase over the coming weeks.

What do you think, Addicts? Can the Chiefs make something of their season without Jamaal Charles?
