The Home Opener Is Just Around The Corner!

Opening day of the regular season is exciting for me.

The opening Kansas City Chiefs game is an even more exciting time.

But nothing compares to the home opener.

I have had my gear in the garage since last weekend.

Monday I cleaned it and followed my checklist.

I called Mike just to make sure he knew where I live, so he can pick me up.

The same place he picked me up the last Chiefs game we attended.

We will pack my gear, stop at our special spots on the way up gathering food.

Perhaps nearly as exciting as the home opener is watching the game this Sunday in my garage where my gear is.

Oh that day.

A three hour drive from Springfield. Passing cars who also are on their way, honking and waving.

The gates will appear, we will hear the music and smell the food and watch the pretty ladies dance with no one and no thing in particular.

We will cook our meal, and sit in our chairs as the sun shines on our face as only the sun at Arrowhead can shine.

As we go through the ticket gates I will feel for my ticket time and time again, making sure it is there, and also that my flask is well hidden.

And when we go through the narrow hall to our section the green will overcome us.

The brightest green many have ever seen and many will never see again.

Then the flyover.

The signal that our country is the mightiest on earth no matter what we hear on the news.

Then the big bangs, the huge explosions and we will feel the heat.

And then….well that is where I will stop today.

See you next week!
