Backup Quarterback:  Holy cow, some life from Aaron Murray!  Murray had a strong overall performance against the Titans, but let’s not kid ourselves, there was a clear difference between what he did against the Titans starters and their backups.  But the fact that Murray was able to show something may have given the coaching staff some confidence in him.  I don’t think that Murray will ever be the starting quarterback of Kansas City, but he may turn into a functional backup.

Chase Daniel didn’t see any playing time against the Titans, but I don’t feel like it cost him anything.  Chase can hang his hat on his preseason performance thus far.  He did it against better teams than Murray, and that will certainly count for something.  Daniel is viewed as one of the better backups in the league, with some talk that a team could have him pegged as a starter…

And that brings us to the trade talk.  Like it or not, the Chiefs have probably received several phone calls about their backup quarterback.  And at some point, they’re going to hear an offer that really makes them think.  For instance…flip back to the section on right guard.  See those names I mention as potential trade targets?  I would absolutely give up Daniel for any of them.  And the Redskins or Browns may be desperate/foolish enough to do it.  Trading away an overpaid backup in the final year of his contract for a potential starter at the biggest hole in our roster?  C’mon…that should be an easy “yes.”
