We made it. After an offseason that plodded along for seven grueling months, tonight we finally get to see Kansas City Chiefs football again. Yes ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for some preseason football!!
I must admit preseason football has become somewhat of a guilty pleasure of mine. Each year we tell ourselves these games are meaningless, but then proceed to make outlandish claims and predictions based on said meaningless games. The snap judgments every fanbase makes during these four weeks (Chiefs Kingdom is no exception) makes for some quality entertainment.

Going through this drill on a yearly basis raises the question, is the preseason really as meaningless as we repeatedly tell ourselves? Do standout performances by an individual in training camp and preseason games signal that he is ready to breakout? Are the struggles of an offense or defense in August an ominous sign of things to come once September rolls around?
With that being said, and with the benefit of hindsight, let’s take a look back at the past five preseasons for the Kansas City Chiefs and determine if what we saw during the those four games gave us any indication of what would happen in the regular season. Something tells me this is going to conjure up a few painful memories.
