Chiefs 2015: Training Camp Tales and Arrowhead Adventures!
Summer is hot and rainy here in good old Kansas City Chiefs land.
The heat is enough to make you pass out, the humidity adds insult to injury.
After working in the yard for only an hour I am ready to drop.
I sit down on the steps, pop a cold one, wipe my brow and think of another time almost a year ago when I braved similar conditions in St. Joseph, Missouri. Nearly a year ago. Which means……..TRAINING CAMP IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!
Every morning I watch my email for that VIP pass offered to season ticket holders on a first come first serve basis.
After checking the mail I join my crew at AA to get the latest news and views.
Next month I’ll be headed to St. Joe with my buddies for a day or two of the worst conditions one can imagine to watch our team develop.
The heat is terrible. The humidity worse. And the sun. The sun doesn’t quit burning in the training facilities in St. Joe.
The guys in the red and gold uniforms have it much worse.
Plenty of hydration of course, but each day they fight for the right to beat themselves senseless for another chance glory.
They risk getting cut, getting injured, even death.
More than one player has died wearing that uniform.
But still they come.
And so shall I one August day very soon.
But until then I’ll be traveling to the pages of Arrowhead Addict.
Sharing and listening to training camp tails.
I hope you will join me! See you at camp!
