Coffee with the Chiefs – Kansas City gets no respect
Good morning, Addicts. It’s the last day of OTAs for the 2015 campaign, with mandatory minicamp coming next week. Let’s get this Thursday started off right with some Kansas City Chiefs news from around the internet.
Kansas City’s roster ranked 19th in NFL – Adam Teicher of ESPN.com
"I’m surprised to see the Chiefs so far down the list. I even stopped about halfway through the list my first time through thinking I must have missed the Chiefs somewhere along the way. But, no, there they are at 19. That’s a bit low for a team with players such as Jamaal Charles, Travis Kelce, Jeremy Maclin, Dontari Poe, Justin Houston, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson and Sean Smith."
Do Chiefs have best TE/RB/WR combo in NFL? – Seth Keysor of Arrowhead Pride
"I have no idea how the Chiefs will do this season, but Charles, Kelce, and Maclin are an absolutely fantastic base of skill players to build around. Here’s hoping for average offensive line play. Because with even that, this could easily be the best offense the Chiefs have had in a dozen years."
Gaines looks like a breakout player in 2015 – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"As usual, I was wrong. Gaines got better and better as the season went on. There was a point late last year where it was obvious that he has a future in the league and reports out of minicamp haven’t slowed on him."
Josh Mauga out to prove his worth – Sean Keeler of FOXSports.com
"Although this didn’t help: ProFootballFocus.com credited Mauga, a first-time NFL first-teamer, with 21 missed tackles, one off the high by an NFL inside ‘backer all season, and 13 misses on run plays, most of any NFL starter in his position group. Because when the middle of the defense wobbles, the rest of the table starts to go, too: The Chiefs’ rush defense ranked 28th in the loop in 2014, surrendering 127.3 yards per game and 4.7 yards per carry."
