If there is one tackle prospect with the physical makeup to be a bully in this draft class, it is Ereck Flowers of Miami. At 6’6″, 329 lbs and an impressive 37 bench press reps, there is no denying that Flowers has the size/strength needed for the job. He has five games available to view on draftbreakdown, and I watched them all.

If a team is looking for a physically dominant right tackle in this draft class Flowers is the ultimate boom-or-bust pick. The boom is because of the physical traits listed above that show up on the field too. There is no doubt that Flowers has the strength needed to be the bully I’m looking for in KC. The problem is that his technique is a hot mess. I remember watching Flowers in drills at the combine and in one particular exercise, his kick slide was the ugliest I’ve ever seen. It looked like he was trying to shake a bear trap off his leg. Considering that the Chiefs would have to invest a first rounder in order to land Flowers, the question will be if they think they can fix his technique issues.

Don’t just take my word for it…….

From Lance Zierlein’s NFL.com scouting report:

"Ascending mauler in the run game … Mean and highly competitive. Wants to dominate and gets surly when beaten on a snap … Pass protection needs plenty of work."

Final Verdict:

Ereck Flowers definitely makes the bully list for the Chiefs RT position. But he’s a big risk with that technique. The decision then becomes if there are other prospects out there that also have bully upside with less risk.
