I know it’s not rational, but the idea of drafting an “athletic” tackle prospect with the last name Fisher just scares the ba-jeezus out of me. That having been said, Jake Fisher is a promising tackle prospect. Draftbreakdown has six games available to watch, and I watched his 2014 games against Florida State and Ohio State.

At the risk of over simplifying, I think Jake Fisher is similar to Ogbuehi but with a little more fight to him. It’s not surprising coming out of Oregon that Fisher is well conditioned and athletic for the position. That said, I just can’t but help but think of Eric Fisher when I watch him, a guy that played physical in college but didn’t initially have the strength to do the same thing in the NFL.

Don’t just take my word for it…..

From Lance Zierlein’s NFL.com scouting report:

"Lacks power … Needs weight-room work to add more bulk to his frame. Needs to improve his contact balance against power."

Final Verdict:

I don’t dislike Jake Fisher as a tackle prospect. I’m sure Chip Kelly would love to get his hands on him in Philadelphia, but he doesn’t look like the physical bully I’d like to see with the Chiefs. Pass.
