The Chiefs defensive line while it seemingly had it’s holes at the beginning of the season with injuries to both Mike DeVito and Mike Catapano. However, the defensive line has been pretty solid this year in helping to push the pocket and stop the run. If they hadn’t then Justin Houston wouldn’t be getting as many one-on-one match-ups because other teams wouldn’t have to reinforce the interior of their offensive-line as well.

The defensive-line is actually a big part of the reason why the Chiefs currently have the first ranked passing defense in the league even after facing the likes of Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers, and Tom Brady just to name a few. Since they re doing such a good job of pushing the pocket Tamba Hali and Justin Houston are having an easier time getting to opposing quarterbacks.

If you can consistently put pressure on quarterbacks like that then they are forced to throw the ball sooner and they can’t fall into a rythm. So even though the majority of the Chiefs corners might just be okay at their jobs, they only have to be okay for shorter periods of time so the key to the Chiefs having such a great pass defense this year has really come down to them having a great pass rush and the Chiefs will continue to be successful on defense as long as they keep pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
