Charles missed Week 3, Davis posted 132 rushing yards and a scattering of fans floated the opinion that No. 25 might be more expendable than originally thought.
Those people should avoid sharp objects.
While it’s true that Alex Smith and Co. have lit up scoreboards without the help of Charles, that’s more of a tribute to Smith (and his coaches) and less of a knock against his right-hand man.
A week after Davis’ breakout performance, Charles returned and stuffed his stat line with three touchdowns and 92 yards on 18 carries. The Chiefs left victorious, Belichick left embarrassed and sanity was restored to the kingdom.
