Ron Parker’s another defensive back who has recently been in the doghouse of most Chiefs fans. That was up until Eric Berry went down with an injury and he was moved to safety. Since then, it’s almost like he’s a completely different football player. He’s made significant plays in two straight games. The Chiefs’ offense stumbled out of the gate after the Rams scored on their opening drive. St. Louis had an opportunity to extend its 7-point first quarter lead after the Chiefs were forced to punt the ball away. The Rams were on the move in their second drive when Parker picked off a deep pass intended for Kenny Britt.

Parker snuffed out another one of the Rams’ first half drives when he came screaming in on a third down play dumping Austin Davis for a 14-yard loss. He’s finally found a home at safety and the move has helped the Chiefs field the best pass defense in the NFL. There’s no substitution for a player like Eric Berry, but Kansas City’s been able to survive without him, thanks largely to Parker coming on in the defensive backfield.

How important do you think these players have been to the Chiefs righting their ship? What other unsung players might I have omitted from my list? Can we expect this bunch to continue playing well or does the team need to get healthy for the back half of the season? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Use the comment section below to chime in. As always, we appreciate your readership and support.

Until next time, Addicts!
