Eric Berry will not play for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday due to a sprained ankle he suffered against the Denver Broncos. Andy Reid said Berry’s recent heel problems have nothing to do with he status so at least nothing has be re-aggravated there.
Ron Parker filled in for Berry after he was injury and one would assume he will start on Sunday against Miami. Parker is pretty good as a safety in coverage and has the speed to close in on the ball. His issues will be mostly in the run game where is not the best of tacklers. Expect Husain Abdullah to see his fair share of snaps in the box as a result.
In addition to Berry, we are going to have to wait at least one more week for the debut of De’Anthony Thomas. After practicing on Wednesday, Thomas sat out the last two practices and will be out for Sunday’s Dolphins game. One would assume he either re-aggrivated his hamstring injury or the injury didn’t respond well in practice. Either way he’s out for another game.
UPDATE:
Thomas missed three games in his three-year career at Oregon due to injury.
With Thomas out and Charles at least being limited, Frankie Hammond Jr. will likely take care of the punt and kick return duties. Joe McKnight could be the other option if Charles is not active on Sunday.
