Kansas City has replaced Jeff Allen on the 53-man roster with cornerback Jamell Fleming.
Most recently with the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, Fleming was a third round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2012 before being let go in 2013. He played eight games for Jacksonville last season.

Flemming played in 15 games, including three starts, in his rookie season for Arizona. He recorded 22 tackles and defended a pass, and in 277 snaps posted a -2.3 PFF grade. That grade was heavily effected by a -2.9 performance against Green Bay, otherwise he was an average player.
But Fleming clearly hasn’t shown a lot in the last two years to make much of an impact on a roster, getting cut by Jacksonville this summer and picked up to the Baltimore practice squad, so what can be expected from Fleming is probably very little.
However, these are the kinds of moves the Chiefs are going to need to make to find some guys who can fit in their secondary. The more bodies they see, the more likely they are to eventually find somebody who can fit what the Chiefs are trying to do. Taking a flier on a 5-11, 206 pound cornerback with a third round pedigree and 4.43 speed isn’t a terrible player to take a flier on.
Meanwhile the Chiefs are going to wait for Donald Stephenson to return from suspension and hope guys like Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Zach Fulton continue to develop at a rapid pace.
