Andy Reid announced today at his press conference both Johnson and DeVito have ruptured achilles and will be out for the rest of the season. A move to the injured-reserve list will come at some point soon. Kansas City has to open up at least one spot on the 53-man roster for Dwayne Bowe so it wouldn’t be a surprise if that move is made today. The move is coming no matter what eventually.
A few other injuries popped up for the Chiefs on Sunday.
Jeff Allen has a strained elbow and is still being evaluated by the team. This means there is a chance Ryan Harris will start at right tackle for the Chiefs on Sunday at Denver. Deity help us if this is the case.
Eric Berry and Husain Abdullah, the Chiefs two starting safeties, each have quad contusions. Given how many snaps they played on Sunday and the Chiefs apparent refusal to play reserve players at any point, it may be wise for them to miss some time during practice this week to rest and heal up. Remember Berry is also dealing with his heel issue, too.
Tamba Hali has a slight ankle sprain. The severity is not completely known but the vibe is it is not serious.
Frankie Hammond banged up his shoulder but should be fine.
Finally, De’Anthony Thomas is still working his way back from a hamstring injury. There is a chance he could return on Sunday but Andy Reid was keeping things toned down in that department. We should know more on DAT by the end of the day on Thursday.
