The Chiefs maneuvered their roster in such a way to keep both Harris and Gordon on the roster. There was some speculation at the beginning of the preseason the Chiefs were going to make an effort to trade one of their tight ends around this time so that could still be a possibility.
On the other hand, this could be a response to last season when the Chiefs lost all three of their primary tight ends to injury within a couple of weeks. The importance of the tight end position to the team may dictate keeping four tight ends in order to assure the Chiefs offense doesn’t drop off too much if such an injury scenario happen again.
Assuming everyone stays healthy, tight end looks to be the most upgraded unit on the offensive side of the ball.
