3. Wide Receivers

This group is also in bad shape.

The difference between this group and the other two are that this one has some bright spots. Frankie Hammond Jr. and undrafted free agent Albert Wilson have impressed me this preseason. Hammond Jr. and Wilson have made excellent plays both on offense and on special teams. Wilson had a long return against Cincinatti and made solid catches and Frankie Hammond Jr. showed explosiveness after his catches and on special teams.

However, Dwayne Bowe is suspended for week one which means Donnie Avery will be the number one receiver. Junior Hemingway, who some, including myself, were excited for, has been hurt all preseason. A.J. Jenkins made a nice catch in the last preseason game versus the Green Bay Packers, but has been a major disappointment so far.

Addicts, I realize there are also things to be excited about, but there aren’t enough of them to convince me that the Chiefs will even come close to what they were last year. With a weakened offensive line and secondary, combined with their schedule I predict the Chiefs will not surpass seven wins in 2014. I hope that I am wrong, I really do, but for now let’s get ready for the Tennessee Titans. Remember to keep it red, keep it yellow, keep it Chiefs (crediting Jason Seibel with the sign off.)
